I began what I’m now calling “My Journey Inward“, without intention. That is to say I wasn’t exactly planning to dive deep within myself and really take a good look around. (Suppressing, or just blatantly ignoring my problems was my way of dealing with anything that came up for me.) But as I’ve learned time and time again, the Universe usually has other plans.
I was still licking my wounds from a breakup. I’d been in denial about the steady decline of the relationship for months, and instead tried to hold on even tighter to the pieces of the broken mess that it had become. When it finally ended, I was lost. I was afraid to admit just how hurt I was, and I was ashamed of yet another failed relationship. As a result, I distanced myself from nearly everyone in my life. Seeking some sort of escape from it all, I started searching for books to read.
I judge books by their cover. Literally. I chose the first book to read because I liked the cover. I’m sure that I was guided to this book because it was exactly what I needed at the time, and through some Universal subliminal messaging, the cover appealed to me, but at the time, I just saw a horse (which I would later realize was actually a unicorn) galloping on the beach and went with it.
This book began a beautiful, though sometimes overwhelming, eye-opening journey to more books and more teachers, each of them exactly what I needed at the time, which continues to this day.
